When will we ever Learn ?

This cartoon was created in 1948 by John Sutherland, a former colleague of Walt Disney.  After the war, Sutherland made industrial and propaganda films, employing many animators when other studios were not using them during the 40’s and 50’s.

The clip is 9:30 minutes and addresses the benefits of capitalism over communism.  The theme seems to speak directly to us today.  Harding College, by the way is located in Arkansas.

permission is not mine to give - but I certainly have no objections.

It is my understanding that at 61 years old, the film clip is in the public domain.  I have had several people send it to me and I have found it posted on You-Tube by a number of sources.  And I try to post from the closest source to the original as I can find.

I always try to provide a source link for any clip or article I post or quote from to make it easy for my readers to backtrack my research.

The story line is a bit oversimplified but the theme is powerful and as timely now as in 1948.

Enjoy

Ted,

I had seen this clip and it truly shows that history is repeating itself. The question is are we will to stand aganist this threat. After seeing the pictures from Washington DC and being at the march in Fort Worth on Sat. I would say Americans are waking up and ready to fight back.

I hope we are not too early with these activities.  The rage against the incumbents in Congress still needs to be hot in November of 2010.  Lets be sure these folks don't go back to sleep before the election.

In our case in Florida a vital US Senate primary election will take place in August of 2010 (Charlie Crist v Marco Rubio in the Republican primary) followed by the general election in November.

All of the House of Representatives and 1/3 of the Senate will be standing for re-election in November 2010.  I can't think of many on either side of the aisle that should be returned to office - but it doesn't work that way.  Most people think their incumbent is ok - it is the rest of Congress that needs to go.  So a too high percentage of incumbents are returned to office. Horsepuckey.

I will not be part of the problem.  My Congressman, Adam Putnam of Bartow, FL, is not running for re-election and my Senator, Mel Martinez of Orlando, has resigned.  My Democrat Senator, Bill Nelson of Orlando, will face re-election in 2012. I support Dennis Ross of Lakeland for Adam's chair and Marco Rubio of West Miami for Senate.
