Has anyone tried to use a HP Media Center PC as a mobile tablet PC?

I am about to buy another Tablet PC after loving mine for the past four years.  It is a Gateway with a 14" monitor that have been quite the work horse.  Unfortunately, the sound card died, so I pretty much need a new mother board or tablet.

I have also been thinking about gettting one of the HP Media Center PC's with Touchsmart technology.

Then, I just thought why not just buy the one beast and lug it around as a Tablet on steroids!  Even with a 22" screen, it is probably lighter than my 4 year old Tablet.  Only problem is there is no built in battery pack.

Tablet on Steroids

Does anyone have an idea on what to use for a portable battery pack to make this into a Tablet PC on Steroids?

Has anyone figured out how to use NAR's discounts on top of other existing discounts from HP?

Thanks!

I use the HP Pavilion Tablet and it only weighs 3.5 pounds. I bought the 6 hr battery and carry a spare.

It only cost $995 at Costco! I think this was cheaper than the NAR discount

 Love it!

Joeann,

I have checked our local Costco several times and even checked online and they don't appear to carry the Tablets for some reason.  That is surprising to me because HP's Printer Division is based here in Boise.

I guess I will have to talk to them at the NAR Conference this year.

I ended up buying an HP Touchsmart TX2 Tablet and love it so far!  It came with Windows 7 and I immediately downloaded the Beta versions of all Microsoft 2010 programs so I am going through quite the learning curve again.  If that isn't enough, I am trying to figure out how to download PDA emulators so that I can use it to access our Supra Lockboxes.  GE says it can't be done, but that is just encouraging me to try harder!
