Looking for a Real Estate Company?

Which Way?

So many companies.  Which one is best for me?

Let's talk.  Perhaps I can help you avoid a common mistake many prospective agents make.  They are blind-sided by the recruiting propaganda and then feel pressured to make a decision.  They skip the analysis, called the A-Step, of the options available in their market.

A-Step, an Analysis of Real Estate Employment Opportunities

Analysis of the employment opportunities in myReal Estate market will help me answer the Big Question:  Which company will help me develop my talents and give me the tools and support I need to become a Successful Agent as quickly as possible?

Your Market

  • Who is hiring new agents?
  • Size:  Small, medium, large
  • Local, family-owned, corporation, partnership
  • Independent or franchise
  • New agent training & support--KEY  (What is success rate of newbies?)
  • Demographics of company:  Seasoned agents, newbies, mature
  • Company 'culture'
  • Agent satisfaction--KEY

Talk to the agents

Why?  The agents will tell you like it really is.  The manager will tell you what he/she wants you to know.

Make your decision after you answer the Big Question:  Which company will help me develop my talents and give me the tools and support I need to become a Successful Agent as quickly as possible?       Winner

Mary,

A great road map to finding a Real Estate Home!  I would add another BIG question.  How is the broker involved with Social Media and the company policy on it.

Thanks for stopping by the Cosmic Cow Pie!

Mary, Very useful advice.  It's wonderful in ANY business if you can actually ask the people that work there and you'll really know about the place you are thinking of going to work for.

Mary,

At the end of the day, it's not the company-it's you. The "balloon or gold jacket" means squat. The people are dealing with YOU. The thing that counts is splits on commissions and ends. It's a business.

It is easy when you are first starting out to just take the first opportunity that comes your way.  This is not always the wisest choice.  Better to check out a company first to make sure that it is a good fit.  It can be hard to quit after you started working and discover that the culture doesn't work for you.

Great post full of useful advice especially for new agents.   Often, I think new agents don't even know what they should be looking for or asking.

Have a great day!

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your comments here.  I agree with each of you.  Too often prospective agents choose the wrong company, get discouraged and leave the business rather than swithch companies.  My goal was to some pointers and each of you added a few additional points to consider.  Thanks.

Mary
