Being an individual is highly valued in our culture and I agree that it should be.  To be unique and go your own way and approach situations from your own point of view is a truly wonderful way to live. Not everyone can be a leader or wants to be a leader but each one of us must be the leader of his/her own life.
Some would say that the two most valuable possessions you have are health and independence. To stand alone on your own two feet, self reliant and independent is a most valuable gift that only you can give yourself.
In the real estate profession thinking independently can set you apart from the crowd and give you the visibility that can bring success. However, standing separate from the crowd is not always the smartest thing to do. Sometimes the heard instinct can be right. In the stock market for example there is a principle which says never buck the trend or “the trend is your friend”. However there is another principle that says buy when others are selling and sell when others are buying “be a contrarian”. The point is that there is a time to go with the trend and a time to buck the trend.  When it comes to succeeding in real estate it’s always best to practice the basics that all successful real estate agents apply.  And those basics are.
1. Getting properly organized 2 Developing new potential clients all the time 3.follw up and follow through.   .    
Before you can be unique you should have the basics well in hand.
And never forget life passes by fast so be sure you are enjoying the passing show as you go.
