Ann,  That is an interesting photo.  And I had not heard of grasshoppers eating the spider -- I learn something new everyday.

Ann, that was a great photo, the spider I saw but the grasshopper I didn't.

Gary,

Yes, I did an experiment with a spider and a grasshopper for science.  The grasshopper was the only insect left in the jar at the end of the day and the spider could not have gotten out because the jar was sealed.  It made me appreciate grasshoppers more.

The spider in that case was a brown recluse.

Tony and Darcy,

The grasshopper is in the photo in the spider's web.  The spider is eating him...  YUK!

Hi Ann, Oh the tangled webs we weave...this spider wove a dousy of a web and is enjoying lunch right now.

Ann, I am sure that is a very tasty meal if you are a spider, though I have heard of chocolate covered grasshoppers

Yes, he seems to have lunch for several days....  I did not know the spider would eat the prey.

Mike,

Awwww...  I am so sorry.  He is a harmless garden spider.  Now if I showed a brown recluse you might have bad dreams and rightly so...

Yikes - poor little grasshopper never saw it coming! LOL You're right about sometimes being a winner, and sometimes not so much! I like that title.

Debra,

He is still alive because he eats some things I do not care for like  other spiders and such.  There is no danger of him entering my home.  I would be more afraid of the ones I cannot see than this one.
