Last week about ten of our agents from Keller Williams Realty in Lafayette, Indiana took a tour of the Subaru of Indiana automotive plant in Lafayette. Why did we visit? What could a factory teach us about real estate? YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED!
1. It gives us a better sense of what is happening at the local level concerning employment trends for our community. (I will deal more with this in part II tomorrow)
2. We witnessed an incredible sense of teamwork and cooperation among the associates who worked there. They worked together helping each other and not competing against each other.
3. The top executives(including the president) shared common office space with all the other office employees. There was a great sense of community and productivity. There were no cubicles and they had a beautiful waterfall to provide background noise so you could talk on the phone in a private manner.
4. A major corporation of this size can have a minimal negative impact upon the environment. Our office sends more trash to the landfill than this factory that employs almost 3,000 people and produces autos! (I will share with you about this in Parts III and IV.)
