Legal and Ethics Continuing Education

By
Real Estate Agent with Shinsky & Assoc

I know this is something most of you don't like to think about but I have to say, it's sad that our industry has made it a requirement to keep our license. That can only mean one thing, we have to be FORCED to learn OVER and OVER and OVER again what is ethical and what our license gives us the right to do and what we shouldn't do. It's sad for me to hear agents tell me how much they hate taking these classes when it's no one else's fault that we have to take these classes but ourselves.

You are absolutely correct!  The only reason it is mandated to us is because someone gave the impression that we all needed it.  That is indeed a sad testimonial about the level of knowledge among our industry about how to practice real estate with an acceptable level of ethics and legality!   Good point!  Have a great weekend!  I'm a Texas REALTOR too...if you have anyone coming to the Texas Hill Country...I love referrals!!!

I can sympathize with your comment, but I feel that the majority of our industry is not as educated as you may be or I may be.

I've worked with Realtors who might have found their license in a  Cracker Jack box.  We have all come across the contracts that make no sense and have strange clauses in them.

As a licensed Texas Loan Officer, I am now required to take another national test.  I believe this another way for our government to take more money from us to establish another Czar of mortgage/real estate.

We are all going through this together, I'll have the privilege of paying another few hundred bucks to be licensed nationally even though I am already licensed within my state.

We are all paying for the mistakes of a few and most of those people are not even practicing mortgage or real estate anymore.

If we are all educated than I am wondering how I keep coming into contact with unethical realtors in our area. I have a handful that need to be brought in front of our local board right now. LOL Have a blessed weekend

Took my "legal update" mce this week. The instructor had a great sense of humor and the comments and questions of the other realtors were sometimes interesting and a few were very revealing, . . that there is a definite need for a refresher for some agents.

I love taking the classes especially ones where you are learning about all the latest news in the industry.  Stay away from those who don't want to learn anymore is all I can think.
