Since January to September 2009 the Community of Blackburn Hamlet has participated in many wonderful fundraising events such as: the Help Emily Help Tyler which helped raise over $4,000 for McMasters University to help find a cure for a fatal disease called Syalidosis, The Blackburn Fun Fair which helped raise funds and non perishable food items for Joseph Storehouse, The Blackburn Hamlet Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Women’s League which donate $2,000 to Joseph Storehouse, the Blackburn Bonanza which was held by the Life Centre, donate over 500 school bags and school supplies to the children of Blackburn Hamlet and other fundraising event held by other organizations.
This fall the Blackburn Community will be hosting other events such as the 7th Annual Run [and Walk] for the Cure on October 4th, the opening of the Blackburn Hamlet Community Church new location on September 24th, the opening of the Life Centre Blackburn Campus on September 20th, the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Talk held at the Blackburn Library on October 20th, and the Remembrance Day concert with Blackburn’s Navan Road Anglican Church. This is truly a community who prides itself in serving each other to maintain an old fashion country village charm.
