community website

Real Estate Agent with Realty of Warner Robins

I had an idea about a community website, kinda like a one-stop website. I bought a domain name.  Now I am trying to figure out what content do I want to publish.  My husband is active duty Air Force and we live in an Air Force town, where the best jobs are on the base. In the past when my husband has received orders to ship out somewhere, we are always in desparate need of all of the particulars about the new assignment.  So, I am thinking there are many families just like us, who will get orders to Robins Air Force base, and want/need to know local info, BEFORE they get to town.  The base provides support services, but of course, being a real estate agent, I feel I know the ins and outs of my fair city better than the government does.

My ideas are something like this, virtual tours of the local schools (exterior shots only), the library, Walmart, local churches, etc, links to the pet boarding centers, motels,  hardware stores, etc .  How about a link to the local job market website?  A local dating service, for the airman's first weekend in town, maybe he/she could find a dinner partner.  Local newspaper links, resteraunt links, etc. Of course there would only be 1 real estate agent listed.  A blog for the locals... that visitors can read to get a feel for the city...

So, I am looking for some ideas.  Perhaps I can trade links with these vendors or maybe sell space for advertisors.

Any ideas are welcomed.

How about recorded interviews?  Could be a great way to get your foot in the door and help others at the same time.  Call restaurants, shops, hair stylists etc and interview them about the community.  Imagine now you'll be the first one they think of also when they think of real estate! AND, they will help drive traffic to your site as well.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I think that's a great idea!  My husband and I used to live at different Air Force installations around the US and Europe and the information you get from the base/family services/sponsors was not always up to date.  How about  including information about daycare centers.  Personally, I always would have like to see more photos of the new area we were moving to, the bases provided some which were usually flattering, but not nearly enough of the every day things that you'll take for granted once there.

Networking may be a better approach... Ok... bear with me...  use links and other's experts... Tout the experts in your area and link to them... Pictures of locations of interest is good along with comments.  But when you bring others to the "discussion" the momentum builds and the topics seems to keep fresh... Just a thought.

you should take a look at as she did the same thing.  I have no affiliation with her website, but she did a great job as a realtor who provides a specific service to the military community.  She is in Lawton, OK around Fort Sills.  I have never been there, but heard a seminar and they mentioned this site.  Take a look it really is a great concept.
