Baby Squirrels In A Bucket

Hopkins SCBaby Squirrels In A Bucket

Yesterday I had Palmetto Tree Service come to my place to remove a couple of large trees that were growing near the house.

We found these 2 sisters and a brother that had been hiding in a nest about 25 feet up.  Fortunately they all seemed unharmed from the fall.

None of them had their eyes open yet and one of the guys said he would take them home and feed them baby formula from an eye dropper.  He has done this in the past and he said that after about 2 weeks they would be ready to turn loose.  I wish them well.

Hi Terry - What cute little babies.  I'm glad they were rescued, and that sounds like a very nice tree service!

It is amazing they fell and survived, and still with their eyes closed!  Wow!

Terry, okay...I'll probably catch all sorts of flack for this but, squirrels are just rats with furry tails!  They have caused so much damage in homes that I've owned...I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about them...oh well you can't please everyone!  Still, I'm glad the little guys were not harmed.

Terry - I've never seen a baby squirrel before, they are cute.  I'm glad they didn't get hurt and it's great that someone is going to take care of them until they can take care of themselves.

They are cute and I like watching their antics as they chase each other around and up and down the trees.  At any time we can have a dozen playing in the yard.

Nick, you are right.  Over the years we have had squirrels in our chimney, vent pipe and the attic.  They have chewed up the wood fence and every wood or plastic bird house and feeder (probably 20) we've owned.  If we had neighbors they would call my wife the Crazy Squirrel Lady because she will walk outside clapping her hands and yell "You'd better get back up that tree!".....it works every time.

Squirrels also have the nasty habit of getting tangled up in the power lines at the sub-stations and blacking out power from time to time.

Still, when I picked these little guys up and put them in the bucket I was glad to see they were unharmed.

That is a nice thing the tree service is doing -- sounds like they are kind people.
