I wrote a blog post earlier this week about our fishing trip with one of our friends /clients on the Flathead River near Paradise, Montana. While he was out, he took the following photos of Bear prints along the river - apparently we weren't the only one fishing on the Flathead River!
A Day Spent Fishing on the Flathead River
Monica: Thankfully Kevin and his friends were not fishing the river at the same time the bear was. I had a close encounter with a bear while fishing in Alaska. What a memory.
Hi Kathleen - you're right on that! Fortunately we don't have many Grizzly Bears in this area so it was likely a Black Bear which aren't too bad - unless they have a cub of course.
If that was me and I saw those prints I would not be fishing at that river for very long.

I would let the bear win -- throw him a fish and run like heck!!! Neat shots of the pawprints!
Now that's a big bear. We see black bears here, but they're much smaller.

Judging from the impression made by that bear, he is no lightweight. Probably better just to see the tracks. :)

Debi - I agree, we would give up the fishing spot to that bear for sure.
Steve - I think you're right, this was a big bear and not one we'd like to meet face-to-face :)
