Hi all,
Sorry about my frustration (maybe too much of a pirate yell?) I've run across another article about our Showing Beacon where the simple idea of making it easy to let the seller know it's okay to come home after their home was shown - got missed.
In this article (TimesUnion.com) the writer states, "Of course, the agent could just call the seller, cellphone to cellphone, but The Showing Beacon, which typically hangs from a door knob, saves the agent the fuss of having to press all those little buttons."
When we first introduced the Beacon we knew the homeowner would appreciate a call so they could come home as soon as the showing was over. Our intent was to make it as simple as possible for the agent to let the seller know. Over the course of selling the Beacons for the past couple years we've learned why the showing agents don't typically "fuss" with pressing all those buttons.
Of course if the seller's (listing) agent is showing the home they will call the homeowner when they finish....
But when it's the buyer's agent showing the home, they don't typically have the seller's phone number, they usually want to get their buyer to the next showing quickly and normally don't want to get caught in a feedback conversation with the seller - especially if their buyer is standing there. We've also found that in some areas the listing agent prefers that other agents only contact him/her and not the seller.
We know that the Beacon isn't needed in all areas (where the seller's agent must always be present and where the seller is allowed to "hang around" during the showing) but for those areas where the sellers are asked to leave... it's a fantastic service.
I would really appreciate any ideas from you experienced Realtors and marketing experts on how to make our message more clear.... I really hate getting frustrated!
Thanks for listening... and for the help,
Bill
