Energy Bills across the United States

cost of energy across the US

The other day I attended a Green Building Design class and the instructor brought up a great point.  He asked for a show of hands to tell him how much a gallon of gas cost....most everyone raised their hand and knew the answer.

Then he asked how much we pay for a KWh of energy- hardly anyone raised their hand.

In East TN we are lucky to have relatively low energy costs- just about $.084 /Kwh.  Other areas are not so lucky.  He posed an interesting correlation, "is the green movement in East TN not that big because the energy costs are still so low?"

I am curious, what are some of the energy rates in other areas in the United States.  Please share in the comment section below.  Also, please comment if "Green is In" in regards to residential real estate in your area.

Green is definitely in here in Los Angeles, and "green-washing" is out!!

People are starting to know the difference.

If 'cap & trade' is passed obama has promised "electricity rates will sky rocket". Two electric co-ops have estimiated bills will rise 46% and 40% so they must be close. More than green homes in the immediate future we need a new president! One not hell bent on raising taxes and costs on everything we use.

San Diego kwh run from  $.19880 to $.22379 depending on where you are on the scale of Baseline usage. The bill is definitely not an easy read!

Green is definitely "in" here in San Diego County.  We are seeing more new home builders with Energy Star appliances and also more LEED certified homes and commercial buildings being built!

To answer your question, green is in here in Northern Nevada, but it has to do with more than just our current .13/kwh.
