Mike,

What's in a name?

"Hard Labor Creek State Park"  Brings to mind all those old "chain gang" movies!

Mike,

Thanks for the invitation!

I did the research. the park was built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, we have allot of those projects in Michigan, too. The name intrigued me, Hard Labor brought to mind old movies about Southern chain gangs, a quick check proved that wrong, but made the name even more intriguing. It seems the park was named for "Hard Labor Creek" that runs through it. Again maybe chain gangs, but no it's believed that the creek was named by slaves that worker around it. Fascinating.

Bill - glad you took the time to look that stuff up, thanks. It also has one of the toughest golf course in Georgia.
