My mom and dad went into reverse mortgage and I had the privilege of watching a signing agent come over to close the deal. We are located in Prince Georges County, Maryland. The signing agent comes in and seems very friendly and professional. She went over all of the instructions and gave detail information about each form my parents were to sign. There were a couple of things I noticed that kind of bothered me.
1. The papers to be notarized were already notarized prior to my parents signing. She told me that it saves time for her and that she is still witnessing the signatures anyway.
2. her State Seal was Maryland but her seal came from Baltimore County. Why did they not have a Prince Geoges County Notary?
3. I asked her about the Washington DC requirements for NSA. She told me that DC and MD has reciprocity. You don't need a separate TPL for DC but you do have to be a DC notary.
The signing took and hour and 20 minutes. And my parents are very happy.
