Sometimes I fear that a credit/debit card makes spending to easy. I find when I have cash, I am more conservative with spending it. One useful tip I have found to work well when working within strict budgets, is to withdraw the exact amount of cash budgeted for shopping from my bank account before going out to purchase anything. That way I feel more motivated to stay within the budget!

Joyce: Most people spend their money in small amounts, let's say $40 to $50 at a time. The problem is that they continue to spend this way until it's gone.

Gina: A debit card is just like having a magic checking account. You spend and spend and really don't realize that you have spent too much. If you have cash them you know what you have in your poscket. You make an excellent point.
