1322-detroit-exteriorI've been very excited about this project popping up for quite some time now. There have been many of you who I have met at my project on Croft who may have been disappointed that there were no longer anymore lower priced units available in the building. If we happened to have chatted, chances are I told you about my listing on Swall or if you wanted to stay in the WeHo area, this new 15 unit building on Detroit. The developer who did this project has also done:  Formosa (sold out), Habitat on the Park (sold out) and my love/hate project at 825 Kings Rd (both resales, still on the market - the one I love has just been reduced to $1,129,000).  Having worked with him on Formosa, this developer does solid work and his team is a pleasure to deal with, especially when you need little things done at closing.

Getting back to the project at hand, Detroit has similarities to the above mentioned projects. They are mutli level, the rooms have a loft like openness to them, and the developer still allows the buyer to customize by choosing their own hardwood flooring and carpeting  packages (carpet is standard in bedrooms, but hardwoods can be upgraded throughout). Although the style might not be for everyone, those of you who have been reading my blog know that there is not much by way of new construction west of La Brea that starts in the $550K range. I previewed the bulk of the units and I have to say, I didn't mind the least expensive unit. I thought it was pretty solid for the price. Ladies (and gents), this is where things might get a little ugly for you. The only deficiency with the project is the lack of closet space. I am forewarning you ahead of time so that you can start thinking of solutions now and not go into shock when you get there. Both the agent (who is fantastic) and the developer are working to come up with scenarios to create more space for your chicest garments ("it's a Lacroix"...AbFab). Don't let this deter you. I've seen armoires from...Ikea...yes, I said it...that are slick as hell and very functional for the price. Definitely check this project out when you are out and about on Sunday. It's open from 2-5!
