For most of my real estate career, my real estate business dealt with selling houses, working with buyers, maybe some vacant land or a commercial building. Renting an apartment, dealing with options, REIT's and businesses weren't 'real' real estate. Now I know better.
For the past couple years I have been doing real estate (as I used to know it) part-time. I'm also a land agent for a global renewable energy company. I travel all over the country and talk to landowners about leasing their property for huge commercial scale energy projects. And I love it!
But guess what! Now everything I learned in GRI and CRS is beginning to really pay off. The customer touches, when to ask the right questions, the psychology of concerns and objections... My home selling background and education is really beginning to pay off.
So what's this post about? It's about expanding your horizons, and taking advantage of every opportunity to learn more about the real estate business. Take a class, try a new approach, talk to someone about a different side of the business. You never know when it will come in handy.
