Bayou City Art Festival in Houston / Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection, Keller Williams Realty

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams NE, Kingwood Texas (Humble & Atascocita too)

Are you looking for a not-to-be-missed event to put on your calendar for October 10 & 11, 2009?  Then look no more - the Bayou City Art Festival is that weekend.  In Houston, this is a juried, fine art event that shows the works of 300 artists.

There are also wine cafes, restaurants and a stage where The Houston Arts Alliance will have performers.  Plus there will be an Interactive Capital One Creative Zone for the kiddos.   This is an area for children to have fun creating art! Examples from prior years have included Wax Hands, Ornamental Rocks, Masks & more.

The Featured Artist this year is Sculptor Kimber Fiebiger. Fiebiger creates stylized Humpty Dumpty characters with titles like, "My Egg Benedict," "Over Easy" and "Bag Egg."  Her works range from figurines to 250 pound eggs fit for a pedestal.  Fiebiger earned first place honors last fall at her Houston debut.  Her work is amazing and alone worth a trip to the festival.

Kimber Fiebiger's Eggs

Admission is $10 for adults & free for children 12 and under.  It will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM both days.  The location is in front of City Hall, around Hermann Square on the streets of Walker, Bagby & McKinney and in Sam Houston Park.

Susan, It sounds like fun.  I have to be honest though I RARELY drive in to Houston.  When I do I make my husband drive. Shoot I signed us up for jury duty on the same day so I didn't have to drive.  Considering I got on a jury and he didn't I don't think that one is going to fly again.

Debbie - It is a lot of fun.  I'm working to clear time on my calendar for one of the days.

Kathy - Fall, festivals (and funnel cakes?) are my favorites.

Kate - Her work does look awesome.  Or should I say egg-ceptional?  Sorry, couldn't resist!

Marchel - I do know what you mean about the drive.  But there is so much going on in Houston!  It is so funny that you mentioned Jury Dury.  I served last week but there are two girls at the office who were thinking of doing what you and your husband did.  I'll have to tell them about what happened to you!
