10 years ago, when we bought our first home, I had visited a couple of homes in Lake Sundance in Calgary... and I can't for the life of me, figure out why we didn't choose this well established, vibrant lake community to live in. 10 years later, we're just coming to the end of our first summer in Sundance, and I keep hoping the fantastic weather we've been enjoying in Calgary will last just a little longer... We still have so much to do!
Since we moved here, we've found the neighbours to be friendly, and very active in the community. Every evening, I see everyone and their dogs (really, everyone and their dogs) out enjoying a warm summer evening stroll. People stop and talk, and if they haven't met you yet. I'm really looking forward to getting to know more of our new neighbours as time goes on.
The biggest attraction to Sundance is of course Lake Sundance. I never realized how enjoyable it is to live in a Lake Community until this summer. We always had friends who lived in Lake Bonavista, Lake Midnapore and Lake Chaparral. So it was always nice when they would invite us over for a day at the beach. But one of the great perks to living in Sundance, is the privilege of using the both the facilities, and all of the great water "toys". Members enjoy the use of canoes, paddle boats, row boats, kayaks, and sail boards. So as an individual, there's no need to purchase, store and maintain any of these items yourself. Not to mention, you don't even have to worry about transporting your canoe, or boat to the water to launch it. The boats are already there at the dock.

Throughout the summer we've enjoyed kayaking, beach volleyball, tennis, and two wonderful playgrounds in this lake community which really is a playground suitable for all ages. It was 34 degrees Celsius in Calgary yesterday (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit) on September 23rd, which is putting this month well on it's way to setting an all time record in Calgary for great weather in September. That's absolutely fine by me... there's a north wind expected this afternoon with a high of 31 degrees. I'm heading out wind surfing!
