Have you ever wondered why more people don't live the dreams they say they have for themselves and their family?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Real Living GreatWest

After 30+ years of working with sales professionals I believe the reason is really quite simple; most people are more afraid of moving outside of their comfort zone than they are of not reaching their goals. It took me a long time to accept this as a reality, but it sure seems to be.

People's comfort zones are created by adding up the things we have done often enough to make us feel comfortable atteptimg to do those things again. Whenever we are called upon to try something new, it automaticaaluy falls outside of our established comfort zone. Just thinking about trying something new, causes us to feel fear, nervousness, apprehension and frequently guilt. All feelings that makes us feel uncomfortable and that we try to avoid whenever possible.

When we suffer from these fears long enough, we tend to get discouraged and start making excuses as we search for feelings that are more comfortable.

The real challenge is, in order for us to fulfill our dreams we must learn to embrace these feeling of being uncomfortable and use them to power us, to give us the strength necessary to push past self-imposed limitations and live to the potential we possess inside.

Thought for today: You must have dreams for your dreams to come true!

Have a productive day.

Very true! That's the beauty of being in sales....we live outside our comfort zone....best thing we can do for our kids is to make them sell something when they are little (rather than doing it for them...like girl scout cookies).

I think alot of folks are afraid to try, be it because of failure or sucess. If they dont try then nothing is expected of them

It  seems to me that the people who are most successful are the ones who are always challenging themselves with something new. Something that is outside of their comfort zone. What the ones that are scared to try forget is that at some point, long ago, everything that they are comfortable with now was new to them. They had to try it before they became comfortable with it. Doing something you don't know is the only way to grow!!!!!

As our parents would always say, "just try your best".  I would take the chance at trying something new even if the result was failing rather than never knowing if I could have done it.
