The Gamble House, perhaps the best-preserved example of Craftsman-style architecture, completed a $3.5 million exterior renovation in mid-September 2004. Built in 1908 by architects Charles and Henry Greene, the two-year project restored rotting eaves, sun-baked wooden shakes and discolored paint on the landmark structure. www.gamblehouse.org
