When working throughout the day do you have IM on?

When working throughout the day do you have IM on? I am working on a communication feature to allow instant communication to visitors to web sites. Do you leave windows live messenger on all day so that anonomus chats can reach you?

Also I was wondering if this will limit my customers to live or can messenger reach facebook, twitter, etc.
