Einstein's definition of insanity, football, and real estate all rolled into one.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Football at Lovejoy Middle SchoolAlbert Einstein is quoted as saying that "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

I am a big fan of both college and professional football. I enjoy watching my favorite teams compete each weekend in the fall.

But it irritates me when coaches call the same plays, use the same strategies, and fields the same complement of players week after week in losing efforts. At what point does somebody say: "Hey, what we're doing isn't working so we need to change our game plan?"

I guess that we all could ask the same question regarding our businesses. If we haven't changed our marketing strategy, learned about new kinds of sales, and updated out technology products despite using the same tired old techniques over and over we just might not be thinking correctly:

And if we are truly expecting different results, well, that's just insane!

Richard it is like that agent that won't let go of the pager for fear that the client that hasn't calle them in 10 years will by fate give them a call.  It is time to make a change.

Great analogy Richard.  We have to keep changing and fine tuning.  On a football note, I think that play where they all line up and then someone tries to run the ball up through the middle after faking a through is a complete and utter waste of time.  It almost never works.  My son says I dont' know what I am talking about!  He's right!

Richard - I am a big football fan myself.  Who are your favorite teams in college and pro ball?  I love this analogy.

Richard, I am a huge football fan myself. And I agree with what you said. While in Atlanta, I saw a sign on a silo that said, "Success Lives Here". H-m-m-m! This will be my new mantra...

Helping you live your American dream...

Richard, if we expect the same results, such as the end result of a sale, perhaps it will happen! Of course you are right, we need to keep up with things. I was working on a post about this, keeping up with the times so to speak. Great post!

Richard, as an avid football fan, college and U of Michigan in particular. I have seen it too.

My premise is that how a coach coaches in buried deep in his psyche. It is hard for them to change.

Is that true in Real Estate?

In many cases yes it is true. Lots of dinausaurs come to mind. They can't wrap their heads around new technologies and that the game has changed.
