THE TOWN OF LUSBY........ is located in Calvert County, which is Maryland's smallest county in land area. The resort town of Solomons Island is only 4 miles away. Lusby is located approximately 55 miles south of Washington, DC and Annapolis, Maryland.
Lusby's business district has been growing rapidly in recent years. Several shopping centers have been built, bringing in new grocery stores, restaurants, post office, & many shops for personal services. One of which is the brand new "Lusby Town Center".
Lusby has one public high school, Patuxent High School, which opened in 1998. There are also two public middle schools and two public elementary schools in Lusby.
Many residents in the Lusby area commute to the Andrews Air Force Base or the DC/VA area. The Patuxent River Naval Air Station is nearby and is very convenient to the Lusby communities.
A few of the the Lusby communities are: The Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Drum Point, White Sands, Cove Point, The Soundings, Rousby Hall Woods, Cove Point Woods, Brianwood, Hellen Creek, Cove Lake, Cove of Calvert & Spring Cove.
Many of the neighborhood's in Lusby are "water privileged" communities. Meaning the resident's have access to the water such as the Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent River, Lake Lariat, Fresh Creek & beaches to enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, skiing, canoeing & crabbing.
Lusby also features a community park, Cove Point Park, which has numerous baseball fields and a public swimming pool, and a public golf course, Chesapeake Hills Golf Course. There is also a private air field owned and operated by the Chesapeake Ranch Estates community.
Places of interest in the Lusby area include the Cove Point Lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay and Calvert Cliffs State Park.
Lusby is bounded by the Chesapeake Bay on the east and the Patuxent River on the west. Steep cliffs and woods predominate on the bay side while along the Patuxent, rolling fields slip gently down to the river.
From the water sports to the hiking, fishing, birding, fossil hunting & camping.....Lusby, Maryland offers a refreshing choice of outdoor activities & scenic views. It's a wonderful place to visit and even a better place to live.
