I feel fortunate to live in the temperate climate of Western Washington, and I can genuinely say I enjoy the rain! (It's really just a fine drizzle that happens to continue all day long, 277 days of the year. Not really, only in the movies like Firewall and Sleepless in Seattle). We happen to get less rain fall than the Eastern Seaboard cities, 38" to their 47" annually. This being said, it is of no surprise that we have a lot of folk that escape to their 2nd homes in places like Phoenix, Palm Beach, Hawaii, and various places in Florida etc.
The purchase of second homes doesn't seem to be decreasing. On the contrary! The thinking is changing as our world changes, and it becomes more of a hassel to go through airports. I am seeing some of these folks sell their homes in the sun and buy a place within driving distance of their primary residences. A weekend get-away!! What a novel idea!
