About Living In the Lewis Clark Valley

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Tomlinson

I have been a resident of the valley for over 30 years now.  Like a lot of people, I moved away, but came back a few years later.  When I drove into town after being away for 5 years, what I missed most was the smell...You see Lewiston has a unique smell.  Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad smell... but I could smell the river.  The Snake and Clearwater rivers have a special aroma that only smelling it yourself could you come to know what I mean.  Yeah, yeah, I know, all of you that has come through on the highway say...The smell of the mill is the first thing they noticed and it wasn't pretty....Well to me it was..and besides, as soon as you drive past the mill, the smell is gone.. that quic.k.                                                                                                                            Another thing that I was happy to see when I came back was the pretty pink dogwood trees.  They are everywhere.  There is even a celebration around the dogwood trees each May!!  They are especially fun to look at when walking around the river on the bike path on a spring morning.  I have put many a mile around that path in the hopes to stay in shape.

I live in a small community named Asotin, just 5 miles oTut of the Clarkston city limits.  It's one of those tons that everybody waves when you are out.  There are deer that run the street at night, and the only noise you may hear in the evenings is the from the Friday night football game..in which every seat is full.  Asotin is still a part of the valley, a realtor becomes popular when a home is listed there because it seems everyone wants to live there.  The school is great--just ask my 3rd grader!

Yes, even though I moved away, and have been back now for 10 years, I could say I don't know of any other place that I would like to live.  The area is small, without being too small.  If I want to experiance big city life, I will hop in my car and go to Seattle, or Spokane.  If I want mountains, they are all around.  And fishing... well there is water all around.  If anyone is looking to move to another area, just ask me why I think the Lewis Clark valley is for them.
