Emerald Isle North Carolina weather is mild yet there are four seasons of beauty. Living on the North Carolina Crystal Coast brings warmer breezes in the fall and winter and cooling breezes in the summer. This is to the liking of the residents as well as the two million plus visitors to our coast each year.
I've had clients call me and say I want to come look at houses in January. Can you recommend a place to stay? What will the weather be like in Emerald Isle North Carolina in January? My response to that is we have weeks in January when the temperatures are in the 70s with crisp skies and cool mornings and we have weeks in January with temperatures in the 50s. So don't pack your clothes too soon or just pack for both temperatures. It can range from mid 40s to high 70s so be prepared.
Emerald Isle North Carolina weather is quite predictable and consistent in the Summer months: warm to hot with south to south east breezes.
Fall is an excellent time for fishing on the North Carolina Crystal Coast as the cooler waters and the late end of the breeding season produces larger fish in abundance.
Hurricanes can obviously be an issue for any coastal region. One of the little known secrets of Emerald Isle North Carolina is along the coast of outer NC you find the Outer Banks. The Crystal Coast and Emerald Isle are at the southern end of this chain of barrier islands. Hence the locals refer to this location as SOBX - or Southern Outer Banks. However unlike most of the barrier islands in outer NC Emerald Isle is positioned east and west vs. north and south. This gives protection in storm events and from beach erosion.
