Should you regret when they leave you

I have always had a philosophy that an agent leaves over management issues.

A colleague of mine shared with me her dismay that several agents left her office this past week. The sad part was none of it was her fault but rather the fact the company leadership had tolerated a bad mangement situation for years before putting my colleague in place. Sadly the previous manger is still hanging around in a limited capacity as top leadership was fearful of moving that individual on.

My colleague was faced with the ghost of tired and overdone previous mmanagement frequently and the leadership of the company tolerated the ghosts presence feeling that agents would resent the new person and the old person being gone. How sad for the growth of the office.

How sad indecision and fretting made the situation get worse. The new manager got plagued with the bad blood that had gone on for years. The agents that left saw that the company tolerated a bad situation and had no patience or interest for a new situation. Even though there was new branch leadership in place, still the new manager and the team had to interact with the former manager from time to time as someone was reluctant to deal with the real issue- moving that person on.

Leadership decsions impact how agents perceive the comany and the branch.

When there is a bad situation, deal with it. Make a decision. Act decisively. Agents would rather see a focus on action rather than a wallowing around in compromised decision making.

If it is time for a management change face it, act and set the new position in gear. Leaving the previous branch leadership in the wings is not a good idea at all.

Sometimes agents need to move on, it needs to be dealt with. However is incative mangement the cause.
