A few weeks ago on one of Seattle's last hot summer days, the ActiveRain team left the office early to play and celebrate.
We began our Fun Friday with a surprise last minute BBQ on Jonathan Washburn's rooftop deck in the heart of downtown Seattle. Along with enjoying sweeping views of the city, the majestic Mt. Rainier, Lake Union, the Space Needle and even Mt. Baker, we indulged in healthy and organic fare from nearby Whole Foods Market. BBQ master Joel fired delicious cedar plank wild salmon (the best salmon I have ever tasted), chicken sausages and fresh corn on the cob. Even the bees delighted in our lunch, sneaking a taste as if we wouldn't notice.
With satisfied and happy bellies, it was time to take it up a notch. We headed indoors to cool off and engage in a friendly competition at the hip bowling lanes and lounge, Lucky Strike. After picking creative team names, ordering a few drinks and changing into our haute couture bowling shoes, we were ready to rock and roll (the ball). Strike. Spare. Gutter ball. Strike. Spare. Strike. Strike. I was very impressed with the caliber of my teammates. Not only are these people passionate about ActiveRain and our members, they can bowl!
There were fancy bowling gloves. There were fancy moves. There were fancy techniques. There were high fives. There was even an injured finger and bandaids and a rubber glove to the rescue. The camaraderie and the encouraging and the cheering was impressive. Aaron's high score of 154 generated both envy and support. It was a team building event gone right.
