HELP!!! I Need a New Tagline!

By
Home Stager

Okay, I NEVER (well, in public) ask for help, so you know I must really need it, right?  Let me give you a little background on my problem:

In the course of my time here on AR, I have learned many valuable lessons.  Most importantly, it is being definitive about your services and business model.  So, with my niche ready to carve, I have been refocusing my business to service mostly vacants, builder's models and investment properties along with some occupied consulting work.  Prior to this, I attempted to be everything to everyone as there were not too many stagers around and my tagline reflected it.  I have not changed it yet as I still have plenty of business cards and print material that carry it.  But now, I am forced to make the change.

I made a huge leap of faith and purchased an enclosed trailer to deliver my inventory to these properties and am having it lettered very soon with my logo and tagline.  This is where my problem is.  My current tagline is "Staged to Sell, or Staged to Live, It's all in the Details."  Well, I am attempting to eliminate the 'stage to live' services and only do redesign as it applies to preparing homes to sell.  I don't want to pull a trailer around that advertises that I work on homes that are not going to market.

I want to keep the 'all in the details' portion of the tagline, but am stumped as to how to convey what I do in so few words.  Any marketing gurus out there who want to help a girl out?

How about "I don't do pink"...

ok, in the name of kick starting some of your brainstorming...

"Handling the details of home staging"

or

"Transformed to sell, its all in the details"

or

"Detailing homes to sell"

or

"Selling homes successfully, its all in the details"

or

one completely out of left field...

"Cars aren't the only things that need to be detailed"

or

"Designing the details to sell a home"

or

"From listing to sold, it's all in the details."

Good luck!

I would love to see a picture of your newly detailed trailer if you'd be so kind to share.

Kim, Are you keeping your DBA, Details Staging and Redesign? It seems that is what you are saying. I may be incorrect about this but it seems to me that the name itself implies you are willing to work in homes which are not for sale. Perhaps that is the starting point for how to change your tag line. If your name became Details Staging then the tag line could be as simple as -- Details = the sales. Hum, what a fun, thought provoking post. It looks like you had fun in Chicago, judging from the photos of you on the various posts. Great!

Yvonne- I guess I never thought of it that way, but I am keeping the DBA.  I will be doing design work as it applies to preparing homes for the real estate market.  I work for some investors and do a lot of redesign for them.  I did have fun in Chicago.  More fun than I expected, actually.  Everyone should go to or plana local AR party themselves!

I think the tagline is right on the verge of appearing.  My husband and I are spending a lot of time talking it out.  Veronica, you have a gift.  I could never pop so many taglines out like that.

Hi Kimberly - you are right - Veronica does have a gift.  For your trailer, I would really like to see Veronica's suggestion "Cars aren't the only things that need to be detailed"to accompany your company name and logo - WOW - put that on the back of the trailer and it will definitely draw attention (and hopefully some business). Good luck!

Calie - I love that line, too.  But to my husband it sounded like a tagline for a house cleaning business.  I don't want to clean anyone's house - not even my own! :)

Kim, I get to go to an AR meeting too!!!! Wha Hoo. The best part? I get to meet Calie Waterhouse. She and I are meeting before the meeting. Calie is a marketing whiz so I'm more than excited. Good luck with your new tag line. You must share when it is a done deal.

Lights, Cameras..."Staged to Sale"

or Lights, Cameras, Buyers! "Staged to Sale"

Photos of before and after can be depicted on the side of the trailer below the tagline.

Ok, I've been thinking about this all day (for real!).  I like the way Yvonne was heading...

The simpler the better...how about changing your DBA to Details Home Staging, and use the tag line: "It's all in the details."  Easy to remember and says what it is.  I see your domain name includes redesign as well.  I checked to see if you could get detailshomestaging.com or itsallinthedetails.com, but both are taken.  HOWEVER, you can use hyphens in URLs now, so you could do details-staging.com.

Just my 2 cents!  Let us know what you decided on!

Susan - Thanks so much for spending so much time!  I'm amazed to say the least!  I get where you are going with it, but I am not changing the DBA.  I did briefly donsider it, but I decided against it.

Right now, I am not sure what I am going to do.  I have postponed the trailer lettering until next week to give myself more time to decide.  I will keep you posted!

Kimberly, how about "Staged For Top Dollar - It's All In The Details!" BTW... stagedfortopdollar.com is available. Investors and builders talk the language of money!

If the budget allows, do a trailer "wrap" instead of just letters. Always "play" off your website as it is your "branding" anchor. It should be the cornerstone for all marketing. Integrate your logo, tag-line and the look of your website in all of your marketing collateral. Uniformity is the key. Consistent look from media to media will build brand identity over time. Repeated impressions will build trust.

Have fun and keep me posted!
