Time for my vegetable garden

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Aloha Kai Real Estate

This past week I planted seeds for my next batch of vegetables and herbs. I had a chance to take some pictures.

An excellent website is www.SquareFootGardening.com which shows the concept and execution of maintaining raised vegetable gardens. I have five square foot gardens in my yard and they are very easy to maintain.

Here are some pictures of the my latest batch of seeds:

Cucumbers:

Arugula and buttercrunch lettuce:

Basil:

I also planted some zucchini, tomatoes, collard greens, chives, oregano, cilantro, etc. I rotate the seeds that I plan and will post pictures of my raised vegetable gardens later.

The Tampa Bay Florida is an excellent area for gardening whether flower and/or vegetable.

If *you* are looking to relocate to the Tampa Bay, Florida area feel free to contact me.

A hui hou (until next time)

Hi Russ. Thanks. By the way my twin sister's name is Lisa so it's odd that you wrote "Lisa" instead of "Lana." Gives me good memories when people would call us by the other's name. Some would call us "LisaLana" because we look so much alike. :-)

I noticed that the weather has changed significantly in other parts of the country. Fortunately it is still sunny in Florida which helps.

Hi Lana, I just planted my fall garden also.  I was also on the square foot website just recently.  I made two raised beds and it is amazing the difference I am seeing.  My cabbage and buttercrunch lettuce is twice the size in the raised beds as the ones that have not been raised yet.  I have two raised beds so far but intend to put 3 more in.

Oh Lana, I'm envious!

Sounds like your area is perfect for growing all year around! Don't ya just love the sight of those little seedlings sprouting up? I've only got basil left in my garden :(

Lana:  I want to have a garden so much.  I tried to grow some tomatoes this year but bombed miserably.  Still, it was great fun trying.  I really want to try herbs and a few other things next year.

Lana, Good luck on that garden.  The pictures are great.  I stick to plants since I haven't had much success with vegetable growing.

Thanks for that link!  I am going to go see if they have hints for doing this in the desert.  I have attempted it in the past but wasn't so successful at it!

I planted a bunch of herbs in containers this past spring. Ummmm, but forgot to label them so I couldn't figure out what was weeds and what was good stuff. That was the beginning and end of my gardening career.

Well done, you (from one who obviously lacks the talent and is impressed that you even know what everything is).

Hi, Lana, I am not much of a gardener, but looking at the vegetables you are planting, makes me want to have a good salad!  Thanks for sharing.
