Symbolism over Substance wins again...

Once upon a time the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize had sacrificed and dedicated their lives to peace in the world.  Deeds verses words.  Looks like the bar has been lowered.

Could the Oakland Raiders get the Super Bowl Championship instead??  Please?  They try really hard and besides I have been a fan for a VERY LONG TIME!!

John - there is no ideology in this, Obama has done nothing to deserve this so far, and he certainly hadn't done anything other than win an election and recite some slogans when he was nominated. Wait, I retract that no ideology statement, you comments show that you are putting ideology ahead of reality.

We can give one to Jimmy Carter when we are at it too.  He meant well!  I do know that Sweden is the most socialistic country in the world!

Remember Jimmy Carter won the same award, enough said! I agree with you, Jim!

This just basically shows that most of these international awards are political in nature.  Many do nothing all that great to deserve them.  I think when the committee does something like this it makes a mockery of their system and the prize.

Interesting this comes at a time when so many who bought into Obama are showing buyer's regret.

Did you know that the last sitting American president to win the Nobel Peace Prize was Woodrow Wilson, who was awarded it in 1919.

Wilson was re-elected president in 1916 under the campaign slogan ‘He kept us out of war,' then suckered America into marching into Europe and waging ‘The war to end all wars.'

In 1918 he joined the delegation which produced the infamous Treaty of Versailles and the still-born League of Nations. His career was one of war-making, failure and rejection by the American people, yet the Nobel Peace Prize committee thought it was worthy of a prize - for of course ‘rejection by the American people' is the sure way to win the committee's heart.

I "HOPE" to be Terry's exclusive mortgage lender in the future.  HOORAY! 

All you need to do is "hope" and "plan" to get the prize now right?

Hi Terry - I didn't realize until today that the Nobel Peace Prize is essentially an award from the Norwegian Parliament. The White House is now in a difficult position. Any foreign policy decisions over the next 6-12 months will be judged to an extent on how much they match the perceived "vision of hope."

Wow...  It reads like a High School yearbook signature.  Hope for all of the things he might do.  Accomplishments don't matter, I guess...

Terry- While you are giving stuff away how about free health care for everyone and a car so they can go to work and a bible that takes out the words "tho shall not kill" for the liberals in the crowd.

Terry - I hope the Vikings win the Super Bowl, even though I'm in Seahawk country.

By virtue that he's not GWB, is alone to qualify him.

John- since when does fostering hope count?  You can "foster hope" with a client that a home will sell, but if it doesn't, do you still deserve a reward?  3% to you mister, you tried?  I do not understand your thinking on this.

Now hold on a second!  Bringing the Lions into this is crossing the line.  Those guys are so bad, they should be considered part of the Axis of Evil.
