Grant Money for Canadian Home Owners

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Ottawa Realty

The new "Home Renovation Tax Credit" will provide Canadian Home Owners with the incentive to go ahead and renovate their current properties.  If work is undertaken between February 1, 2009 and completed by February 10, 2009, and the value of the improvements is between $1,000 and $10,000, tax payers can claim a 15% rebate.  The stimulus could not come at a better time when the Canadian economy could use a boost.  The fallout of benefit are many, not to mention that Canadian homes will be more beautifully updated and energy efficient....and easier to sell.

Call for a complete list of eligible renovations from ex. sodding the lawn, changing the central air/furnace or putting a face-lift on the kitchens and bathrooms.  My best advise is to get cracking because some projects take longer than you anticipate when supplies are in high demand.  Unlike the energy auditors that are required by the government to ensure that energy efficiency has been achieved, all you have to do is save your receipts for future audit if required.  So, don't forget to ask for a receipt on what might have been a cash job.  (That sounds like good and bad news for the construction industry and the weekend warriors).

For a list of qualified, reliable and affordable staggers, contractors and general handy-people, call in the Caird/Salhany Home Team 613-850-2020.  Once you have your home shining like a new penny, call me back in to see what its worth.  I'm always ready to pop-by and lend my expertise to the project.  After 25 years of listing to buyer's feedback...I know what sells. Keep in mind, our customized marketing plan is a unique system designed to increase the demand for your home.

Tip #1:  Keep it neutral or call in a professional decorator to help you pull it all together.   Good luck and have some fun.
