Kingman, Arizona just held its annual Andy Devine Days (in honor of its local celebrity) Rodeo and Parade the end of September. Andy Devine, for those of you not familiar with him, was a western movie star, sidekick for Wild Bill Hickcock among other highlights. He was born in Flagstaff,Arizona but was raised in Kingman. The famous Route 66 highway goes through Kingman and the part that goes through the main part of town has been named Andy Devine Street.

One of my granddaughters does barrel racing and participated in barrel racing at the Rodeo. She was able to win some money and ribbons. A friend of hers barrel races and also shows her horse in english saddle. She also was in the money and won in both of the events she entered. My granddaughter wants to join the WPRCA rodeo circuit when she turns 18 so I guess I will just have to sell a lot of real estate in order to be able to follow her around the country watching her race.

Kingman is finally "going green". The county planning and zoning and the Mohave County Board of Supervisors approved the preliminary plans for a biodiesel plant and also for a solar farm. Both entities have to obtain the proper permits from the different state commisions before they can move  forward, but they have completed the first and most difficult part of the process.

The city of Kingman is also following the progress and success of Lake Havasu City in having solar panels to generate some of the electricity for the Lake Havasu City High School. If the project is a success, Kingman will look into doing some of the same things for their schools. I think that we have suffucient sunshine to make solar work for us!

While we are far from the type of market that we had in the early 2000's, statistics are showing that we are beginning to sell more homes and at a greater rate than we did in January of this year. With these two new industries and several new businesses growing up in the Kingman area, the housing market should continue to grow as well. More industry and business means more jobs, more home sales and more tax revenue. I think we are on the right track.

Cowgirl up! as they say in rodeo!

Ha, Going Green can help a community in getting other incentives on their FHA mortgages such as increasing the DTI ratios. Great Insite!
