WANTED: USED SURFBOARDS
DO YOU HAVE AN OLD SURFBOARD YOU DON'T USE ANYMORE?
COME TO FLETCHER COVE IN SOLANA BEACH ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, 2009
RERIP IS SPONSERING A BOARD SWAP AND COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER
Surfboards are made with toxic chemicals and it is important to keep them out of the landfills. RERIP is a great company that takes old boards and sorts them into three categories.
1. Surfboards that are used that are in good shape and/or need minor ding repairs are donated to non-profit companies, given to a less fortunate individual or sold for a small fee and the profits are kept to help sustaing the company.
2. Surfboards that are beyond repair to surf on are sold to local artists for painting, tileing, signage, etc., or donated to school art programs.
3. Boards that are hard to reuse are used in researching and developing surfboards as a filler in concrete.
Anyway you look at it they are doing a great job helping our environment by keeping these toxic boards out of the landfills. They have even put a recycle bin at the Miramar landfill that is used strictly for surfboards.
Come to the Board Swap and trade your used, rideable board for one on many products that will be at the event e.g., skate swaps, recycled shirts, clothing, bamboo skate decks and many other vendors.
There will be live music and shapers on hand with their latest surfboard designs.
SEE YOU THERE!
