Advice for Newbie to ActiveRain?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Premier Realty

Hello Active Rain members -

I have heard so many wonderful things about ActiveRain from my marketing consultant and I upgraded my account today.

Now that I have upgraded my account, I would love to learn from the experts - WHERE DO I START!?

Other than surfing through older posts to see what has already been recommended, I am wondering what are your best tips to optimize my profile and my blogs. (I have never blogged before.) And, what do you recommend I don't do (I am sure there are lots of those too).

What else should I be doing?

I am very excited to get started but am wondering where I should focus my efforts.

Thank you!!!!

than there is Brad Anderson, Lenn Harley, Broker Bryant, Jason Crouch, Loreena Yeo, ..

since you are fluent in German, I would also say that in German too, and do some of your blogs in german.

Also read as many blogs about SEO as you can to get on the first page of google ASAP using Hyper-Local content

Hi Gabriele-

One word for all: SPELL-CHECK!

We're new, too and have been blogging every day.  They may be too elementary for you, but I posted some on what we learned at RainCamp this week.  http://activerain.com/blogsview/1274289/in-the-beginning-tips-for-new-bloggers.  Today I'm getting listing up from Postlets (which I noticed that you have been using).

In the hope that it will help motivate you to tell us more about your thoughts, I am subscribing to your blog!

Weldome to active rain.  The newbie tutorials will really get you up to speed the fastes in my opinion.  They are great.  Also join the newbie group! Also, be sure to reciprocate when people leave comments on your posts... then you will build readers and development some new relationships (which may lead to referrals)...  Good luck and we will look forward to more posts.

Welcome to the Rain and congrats on the Feature!  I learn so much from reading and commenting on the posts of others.  I would say practice your blogging and learn from the masters on this site...there are many of them to learn from!  I takes time and practice, like anything, to get good, but in the meantime...you have to start somewhere!  Best to you and again, WELCOME!!! :o)))

And when you get done reading Brad's post, go read Bob Stewarts.  There's lots of great groups to join.  THE SEO group has great info.  And often, be here often, answer people who comment to you and comment on their posts and get to know people.  People here are so willing to help you.

Welcome Gabriele! I am recently new to this as well, but I can tell you, it becomes addictive! I have learned so much from everyone here it is amazing! Take time to read the featured posts, it will help with ideas on what you can write about. Start commenting, it helps relieve the anxiety of trying to figure out what to talk about and pick a topic and GO!

Congratulations on having your first featured post so early! It is one of my goals here on AR to get a featured post! I am already featured#1 in my area and have hit my 10,000 point mark. You will find these things are some of the fun in contributing!

Happy Blogging!

From what I've learned, if you want to make sure Google picks up your posts, make sure they are at least 400 words and about 3% of that is your keywords.

Also, be sure to read Brad Andersohn's and Katerina Gassett's blogs.  They are full of all sorts of great information.

Gabriele..welcome!  Active Rain Blog posts are VERY powerful! Research some of the tutorials and make good use of keywords and tags. If you have a website, create a link on your site to point to your Active Rain Blog Page. The backlink should help boost your page rank. Also, when writing those blogs, check the "draft" box,so your blogs won't publish until there just right. You can even insert YouTube videos! Have fun!

Gabrielle, my biggest successes from Active Rain have been from keeping it local.  Write about local neighborhoods, schools, events, businesses...all of the things that someone who is relocating to your area would want to know about.  I can't tell you how much I have learned about my market and how many consumer contacts I've received from sharing little day-to-day things about my community.

 Welcome Gabrielle,

You are going to meet some really great people at Activerain and get yourself out in the web really fast through Activerain, and some great google juice.

I sent you a email just before this comment inviting you to around 30 of my groups, that will help you get a good start around here.

Welcome to Active Rain Gabriele!!  I have written a tutorial about making your keywords, posts, tags, etc rich for the search engines and am currently going into syndication.  Mr Novak is right about centering posts around your niche!

Be yourself, write about what you want and have fun, there is no other way to do it :)
