Can We Live With Indifference?

This post is not directly associated with real estate, but then again it might be.  I'm not particularly happy about whats happening to our country.  For too long we have listened to what politicians want us to hear without living up to their promises.  We need to hold them accountable and to do that we must look beyond our daily routines and realize that the laws they pass impacts our lives.  At one time Americans took great heed of going to the polls to vote, we had passed the second world war and the cuban missle crises and our wits were sharpened.

Our lives today are fast paced and we all have routines but, that shouldn't deter us from keeping abreast of what directly affects our future.  America was once a country revered and her citizens defended their rights.  We didn't just leave it up to the politicians with the attitude ("Oh, they'll take care of it").

We have been fighting wars on two fronts; one is the foreign lands and the other drugs.  Do we at home now feel the soldiers have to do all the fighting?  It time to get a grip and research the information needed to make intelligent decisions.

I'm also red in the face with the moral decline we have so generously accepted.  Nudity, foul language and heavy violence have become normal and our children have been thrown into it head on.  What is the matter with us?  The word respect should be removed from the dictionary because it has lost its meaning.  I am a proud American and a patriot and I am deeply disturbed by the overloading of illegal immigrants who burden our economy.  We have never been a country to turn away those who work to get their citizenship and add to our prosperity however, we cant' overoad the boat.  Our politicians now get away with blantant antics and ignore anything the public refutes.  Only one solution, learn and teach your children about politics and get to those polls!

Sadly, even "Get to the polls" isn't what it used to be.  Far too many of the campaigns across the country have been compromised by manipulation and illegal activities.

The cure??  Ordinary citizens who get off their butts and get out there and vote.   We can outmaneuver the manipulators if we just get in line and vote.

Good timely post.

Ann...you are correct....we need to leave the word "respect" in the dictionary however so that we have something to shoot for and to tell our grandkids..."this is what we used to do!"

Hi Lenn, it is a deep pleasure to hear from you.  I do know that we have corruption in the polls.  Even so, I did want to make the point that we need to get out and vote.  Thank you for your wonderful reply.  Ann

To Ed.  Good morning and thank you for reading my post.  I do tell not only my grandchildren but anyone else who will listen.

Ann, you are expressing a sentiment that millions of Americans feel. The only way to change it is at the polls.

Hi JOn,  I appreciate your response and agree that millions of Americans may agree with me but, the thing is to do something about it.  We can't keep passing the buck, we need to stimulate the public and get them to realize that its our future that's at stake.
