Will an open house sell your home? Some clients insist I provide them with open houses while others refuse for me to do one. In my experience most Realtors enjoy doing open houses because it affords them the opportunity to meet new potential buyers. I would think there is a relatively small chance of selling your home through an open house (maybe 5%), although I have done it. My feelings are even if there's only a slight chance, every bit you can do certainly helps.
Jim - we do open houses and are huge proponents for them. Typically the only reasons we would say no if the seller doesn't want to do them or if the location is somewhere really difficult to drive people in. We get a pretty good percentage of homes sold via Opens compared to the average which I read somewhere to be even as low as 2-3%. I agree with you - any little bit helps. So why not. ~Rita
We include 1 open house in our marketing plan. It makes the client feel good because it's tangible. More so than the web based techniques we use. However, after the client hears that we had 1 maybe 2 visitors (if we're VERY lucky) they lose the fascination.
Hi Jim~ I have done some open houses, but I feel as if spending more time posting on websites is a better use of my time since most buyers use the Internet to find their home.
