Supra Bluetooth lockbox, now that would make sense

By

I have been delaying getting a new phone now for almost a year, waiting for that new phone that will open up the Supra lockboxes without the use of a "fob".  Even if I wanted to use a fob there are new phones that it's not compatible with including the iphone and Palm Pre. It really seems like Supra is working backwards by developing software to make current phones compatible to yesterdays technology instead of developing a lockbox that will work with today's phones.  I even called Supra today to ask them if they had plans on developing a Bluetooth box and the person I talked to said she couldn't answer my question.

Because of this I really see Sentrilock taking over the electronic lockbox business over the next coupe years. Oh well, it seems like I will be sticking to my old TREO 755p til the very end (which might be sometime soon).

I know it isn't the gist of your post but I have to say, if you can get a phone that will open Supra boxes, DO IT. The %$#@& stand alone key almost made me lose it everytime I had to use. Haven't had a single problem opening a box with my palm centro (which I got just for that reason).

Jim, Our MLS is using Sentrilock.  As the price of boxes goes up changing a whole MLS system becomes more of an event.  Your questions are good ones. Hopefully someone is listening. (not sent from my iphone,LOL)

I checked out Sentrilock's website and there isn't any mention of Bluetooth compatability. Now that Palm has fazed out infrared, it seems to me someone is going to have to come up with not only a lockbox that has Bluetooth compatability, but a way to adapt to any other technology that may come along. Surely that won't happen, as each new piece of technology means tens of thousands of new boxes being sold.

Terrence,

Sentrilock is a completely different company then Supra.  Only Supra uses the ir to get into the lockboxes, Sentrilock uses a card to get in.  Bluetooth is the new standard and it seems that it will be used for years to come, hopefully Supra comes up with a new system soon!

Hi Jim,

I beg to differ.  The Bluetooth standard has been around for 10 years.  Most new cars now carry it for various reasons as well as almost every computer made in the last 2 years.  Hopefully both Sentri and Supra catches up with the times so Relators can carry on with today's more effective mobile tools.
