Blog Action Day 2009

Last year I participated in Blog Action Day call to action regarding poverty in my post here.

This year's topic is Climate Change and I think it's a good one because of all the horrible events that happened with the dangerous climate storms we had recently, especially with the flooding in Philippines.

Below is the run down on Blog Action Day and I hope you too can participate, I am participating in both my blogs.

Blog Action Day October 15th 2009  (http://blogactionday.org/)

Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world's bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Their aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.

The Purpose Of Blog Action Day ( video here )

The goal is to create a world wide awareness on a different topic each year through the power of blogging.  Blogs are a great promotion, communicator and resource of information.  What better way to help promote this years topic by contributing a blog to this cause.

No Excuses.  You don't have to donate money or even run in a marathon.  All you have to do to spread awareness is write a blog on the topic for that day.

If that's still not convincing enough, did I mention when you register your blog you get a free SEO Backlink from their site, showcasing you registered? :-)

Hope to see everyone's posts this Thursday!!

Blog Action Day is a perfect opportunity for those of us who blog to coordinate our efforts on perhaps the most important issue of our time. I'm dedicating this week's posts to technology and climate change. Latest installment is “The Green Energy Fairy Tale is Real” at http://t1rex.blogspot.com/2009/10/green-energy-fairy-tale-is-real.html

I have not heard about this but you better believe I will be joining in.  I happen to know a lot on this subject as I have a Biology and Chemistry degree with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology- what a great way to use those college degrees.

Christine and Jennifer, I will be interested in reading about what you have to say. I do not know enough about this subject to write about it, but I know we had one of the coldest winters in Florida last year that we have had in over 20 years. I think that's why they changed it from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" because they could no longer justify the "Warming" part. Apparently, the weather is shifting from warming to colder.

This climate change blog appears to be completely one sided.  Will it accept blogs from those of us who believe that climate change is not caused by human activity?   The evidence I've seen shows that climate change - heating and cooling - is an ongoing natural cyclical process.

If warming is only due to humans then what caused the Earth to warm up from the last ice age when there were no cars and air conditioners and power plants?  Why this time its humans causing it when other times it was sunspots, volcanoes, magnetic field changes, orbital changes, continents rising or falling, heat from the core, axial tilting, etc.

There is great wealth and power to be taken from us by those who promote this hoax.  We do need to respect the Earth and live carefully but when I hear an egotistical power-hungry politician or ex-politician say that he is going to save the Earth by forceably lowering my lifestyle, I shudder.

The Earth will do fine with humans or without humans.  It will be here either way.  It will heat up or cool down as much and as often as it wants to.  It doesn't need us to save it.
