Apache Junction Fire District still looking for new home in Gold Canyon

The Apache Junction Fire District, in their quest to find a home for a second fire station Gold Canyon, was told by the residents of Kings Ranch Estates they did not want them there. This is the second time the Apache Junction Fire District was told in the last 3-4 months they were not welcome in northern Gold Canyon neighborhoods.

Most of the problems residents complain about are the building, design of the building, noise, sirens, and the wear and tear on the roads in their neighborhoods. But, with a 4 minute response time to get from their station to homes in Gold Canyon in the event of a fire is hampered in the northern part of Gold Canyon and east to Peralta Trails due to a lack of another fire station.

I wonder if the opinions of those who have voiced enough opposition that have kept the fire district from locating a station in northern Gold Canyon will think twice about response times in the event of a medical emergency or fire when it involves their home or a family or neighbor.

It would be interesting to see what the overall response to locating a fire station somewhere in northern Gold Canyon would be overall for the Gold Canyon area if insurance rates were increased significantly due to a delayed response for fire or medical services.

I would think that most home owners, sellers, and buyers would want fire services nearby so as to increase their property values and intice buyers when they sell that fire and medical services are nearby. We will have to wait and see how this shakes out as there is not many options for them to place a new fire station at this point with all the land that has sold.
