As a Miami Beach Realtor and resident, I am always amazed at the beauty of Miami Beach's Art Deco District. When most people think of Miami Beach Condos, they think of the high rise towers that adorn the beach. In my opinion, some of the best places to live in are the Art Deco Condos on interior of the beach south of the Lincoln Road Shopping Mall.
The art deco movement took place from 1920-1940 and as a result many lowrise buildings were constructed in Miami Beach with stepped forms and sweeping curves. During the "condo boom", many of these art deco buildings were converted from rentals to condos in a complete gut renovation of the building and/or individual units. In many cases this meant new walls, floors, windows, appliances, wiring, plumbing. You name it. Basically everything is new inside the unit, yet the original art deco architecture on the outside is preserved.
