Like it or not, Dripping Springs, Texas is growing, from the much anticipated HEB, to Home Depot, Walgreen's and yes even Mc Donald's. Soon the Polo Club at Rooster Springs will be experiencing its own changes and this is irony at its finest. When we were looking to move into the Polo Club at Rooster Springs it appealed to us on many levels. We enjoyed the small town feel of Dripping Springs and the close proximity to Austin. The natural beauty of the landscape and paddocks, the magnificent homes and the impending development bode well for future home appreciation. What we didn't know was just how close the development would be. On our 4thday in our new home we attended an HOA meeting and were informed that the paddocks, directly across from our home, were to be developed into a shopping area. This was a bit of a shock. We have since seen the paddocks removed, the land surveyed and the commercial real estate signs go up.
We have come to realize that change is inevitable and have made the choice to embrace it. We will enjoy the convenience of the amenities that come with the development of our little town. The battle ahead is to maintain the soul of Dripping Springs as it grows. The County Commissioners are making an effort to work on smart growth and the city of Dripping Springs has recently formed a steering group to develop a strategic growth plan.
Today the signs are still up and the survey stakes have been posted. The recession has slowed the inevitable but as the economy has improved so has the activity. Like it or not the growth is coming. Let's hope we get it right.
