Dry Wall

I have read many Blog Posts and News articles about this recently and I figured it would be a good idea for me to share it with my readers. It seems from around 2004 to 2008 during our housing boom we were running out of drywall. So what did we do ? We imported it from China, thats what. The problem is that many "organic" compounds are found in this inferior drywall and it is emitting a sulfur like smell. Add to this that insurance companies are not only not covering repairs but they are actually dropping clients with it in their homes as it may cause more damage later, corroding pipes etc. Now this is supposedly centered in the southeast but other states have reported the problems. The Florida AG is looking into it. Some sort of Chlorine gas may work to neutralize the odor/gas. The house is tented and pumped full of chlorine it seems. I have to wonder how we keep letting China dump illegal , inferior and sometimes deadly products on our shores. I wonder if selling the homes will be problematic?

Interesting. I have never heard of this before. Makes ya wonder what it would be like to live in a rotten egg.

Didn't know there was a problem with drywall during the boom.  I knew we were importing plywood because we didn't have enough.  I think most of it was coming from canada though.

This is real problem in our area and hopefuly there will be some recourse for buyers who are stuck with this.  In the mean time I would suggest we all learn Chinese because we will need it when They Foreclose on America.
