Pay-Per-Click: Does it work?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Dynamic Support Solutions

I'm trying to decide if I want to use a pay-per-click for driving traffic to my website.  Can anyone tell me if it works.  If so, who do you use?  From what I've read, it can really pay off, but I've only heard from a couple of "believers."  I would really love to get some feedback on this!

Thank you all for your participation in previous blogs.  Your feedback has been a huge help!

It works if you do it right. You can't just set it and forget it. I use Google AdWords almost exclusively and have pretty good results. They provide a lot of free tools that can be very beneficial. If you do sign up for AdWords make sure you use Website Optimizer and have good tracking in place (you can also use the tracking and Analytics programs that Google provides for free). I would go to the AdWords site and do some research and start playing with it. You can control how much you spend a variety of different ways so you can learn the ropes and control how much you spend pretty easily. Once you get the hang of it you can start bidding more and bidding on additional keywords.

IMO Google offers the best PPC system and is very user friendly. As long as you take the time to monitor and test throughout your campaigns you can gain a lot using PPC.

I am very interested to see the responses.  The only ad click I ever used was on Zillow for a month.  Out of 30,000 ad clicks, got one call that amounted to nothing

Sandi, One thing that you have to consider is what if you get people to your site.  Then what?  As a loan officer also I had to do an analysis on wether or not I could compete with sites like Ditech, Lending Tree and Eloan.  Let's face it, if someone on a computer is looking for a mortgage loan they are almost always going to go to those sites in addition to yours.  Can sites like yours and mine compete with theirs?

If you are new to internet marketing I do not recommend Pay Per Click.  It works if you understand it and if you have done your homework.  To be used effectively you need to know the right key words, and bid on the right key words to properly target your visitor.  It can be a very expensive way to learn internet marketing.

Sandi, the best advice I can give you would be to read Perry Marshall's articles on Google Ad Words. He is well respected in the PPC marketing arena and the free articles/reports posted on his site make for good reading and a great intro into the world of PPC.
