Tiger Sanctuary Finds A Place To Land In The Ozarks

My family owns 90 Acres just north of Branson Mo, and a couple years ago I had my neighbors parcel of 100 acres up for sale. The only real interest I had was when another agent had shown it to some interesting people from the St Louis area. After the showing they informed me they were interested in putting in a "Tiger Sanctuary".

With no real understanding of what they were wanting to accomplish, and having a 5 year old at the time, fear and panic ran through my mind of having hundreds of tigers in my back yard. Not being the right piece of land for them; lucky for me "I thought"  they moved on. Two years later, the announcement was made that the new animal sanctuary will be located in Rockaway Beach, MO, about 15 minutes north east of Branson, MO.

It should be an amazing boost for Rockaway creating a tourist attraction for 90,000 annually. The company is called Global Resources for Environmental Education and Nature or (GREEN). The 20 Acre Park will educate about people about this endangered species and the importance of protecting the environment. Now understanding what the tiger sanctuary is all about, I wish them the best and look forward to seeing Rockaway Beach have a boost in it's own economy.

Hi, Carrie. What a gorgeous animal! I'd much prefer to see animals like this in a sanctuary than in a zoo!

Carrie, has this been approved by the Chamber of commerce? I heard that the community denied the sanctuary?

This is Rockaway Beach-Not Branson, the land has been bought there for the Sanctuary. These are the facts I read in the local paper. It seems all of Rockaway is for the project for the most part.
