In the past I have blogged about another life I lived while working for an international software development company. I took this "temporary" job back in 1997 for what was to be a 3-month stint, but instead it ended up lasting 8 ½ years. All during that time I continued to sell real estate - often to the software developers and engineers, which were my co-workers until 2005.
Today, nine of us from the old company celebrated a small lunchtime reunion at a wonderful restaurant having a reputation in our area as presenting some of the most wonderful Asian epicurean delights available.
My favorites on their menu - Orange Chicken with chili and a special zesty orange sauce, Fat's Almond Chicken with almond crusted chicken breast and zesty orange sauce and Honey Walnut Prawns in a light sauce with caramelized walnuts.
Although there are several Fat's locations around the Greater Sacramento area, we chose the Fat's Asia Bistro located in Folsom, near Highway 50 at:
Fat's Asia Bistro
2585 Iron Point Road
Folsom, CA 95630
There website is as follows: http://www.fatsrestaurants.com
Myrl - how timely - one of our favorite little Thai restaurants just opened a new location here in Uxbridge and your dishes reminded me I have to check it out.
Hi Myrl, Chinese has never been one of favorite foods but I will y this. For many years running our annual legislative luncheon was always held at Fat's ( by the Capital Building ) and I loved their food. I guess this restaurant is a new addition to the original location ? Love the Buddha Head. I have one in my living room, I will have to take a take photo for you.
Myrl, How nice that you and your former co-workers still get together; the lunch looks just wonderful and I'm sure everyone had a wonderful time.
Hi Myrl:
WOW...after all these years you still get together. That's wonderful.
All that food is already making me hungry!!!
HI Myrl,
Well ,those dishes are certainly making mouth water. The orange chicken sounds particularly wonderful. Do you know if there is a Fat's in Texas? I really gotta check it out!
Steve
I'm with Trey...
It's just about lunch time and I love Orange chicken...
Not on the menu for this noon unfortunately....
Thanks for sharing
Oh, my, Myrl. Orange chicken is my absolute favorite. Excuse me while go clean the drool off my keyboard.
Mary - I think that Fat's restaurants are pretty much confined to the Greater Sacramento area.
Kathy - We have several Thai restaurants here, and most of them are really great.
William - Yes, there is Fat City in old Sacramento near the capitol. That's also a great place to eat. The Buddha at Fat's Asia Bistro has a golden Buddha which is at least 20 feet tall. It is the first thing you see at the oposite end of the dining room when you go through the front door.
Tony and Darcy - I like most any food that hasn't fallen on the floor first:-)
Jenny - I use Paint Shop Pro's Animation Wizard.
Steve - I think that Fat's are confined to the Greater Sacramento area.
Diane - There are enough of us who love Orange Chicken, that we ought to get together one day, and pig out on oodles of the stuff:-)
Debi - We ought to make sure we do that one day!
Janice - I haven't had breakfast yet, and I'm looking at those pictures, and saying "YUM" too.
Maureen - We really did have a great lunch on Tuesday. . .I remember when I went to work up at the old company, and you guys were all kids. Now, you've gone and grown up on me:-)
Pamela - Keyboard drool, now there is a mental image for ya:-)
Do you know that I have never been to a Fat's restaurant? Probably because it's a bit on the expensive side and there are so many small, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants to explore. But I have heard people rave about the food at Fat's.
Elizabeth - Yes, it is true, Fat's restaurants are more upscale, but worth it to experience every once in awhile. I like to do lunch there, because you save a few bucks but still have a great variety of exquisite dishes. I've been to them all, but prefer the one in Folsom most.
I was looking through your recent posts and thought I'd lost my mind when the picture I scrolled down to see wasn't there any more. Tricky with the slide show. Looks great and the food looks delicious!
Myrl - we went and had lunch at our new Thai restaurant but unfortunately they are not yet serving Barrie's favourite dish.
OK, It's official I have the midnight munchies...If only there was a GOOD Chinese restaurant open right now...heck if there was any Chinese Restaurant open right now, I'd probably go and get some Shrimp and Lobster Sauce...my all time favorite.
Thanks for these wonderful pictures
John
