Dear Representative Minnick,

I am writing to you today on behalf of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) to urge you to vote for an amendment to H.R. 3126, the "Consumer Financial Protection Agency Act of 2009," submitted by Representatives Childers and Miller (CA). The amendment seeks to reverse the harmful Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC) and calls on regulators to work together on one set of appraisal standards.

Click here to view a petition with over 100,000 signatures of Americans calling for the HVCC to be overturned. You may select your home state to find out how many of your voters support reversing the HVCC.

Sincerely,

Jim Pair, CMC
NAMB President 2009-2010

My gut feeling is that they're not going to reverse it.  I'll be working in another industry by the time to do it anyway.  Too much hassle, for too little pay.  Let the banks bring the appraisers back in-house where they belong.

The banks are the ones that caused the fraud issues. Last time I checked Wahington Mutual was a bank, not a mortgage broker.    They do not need to control the appraisers.

HVCC has already caused immeasurable damage and harm to the consumer. I'm aware of a class action suite forming to indeminify consumers for damages and fees for inaccurate and sub standard evaluation reports. Social injustice can only go on for so long, and enough is enough!! At this point reversing bad policy is not enough, civil justice will be served. Please contact me for updates on the suite or potential members of the class.

Let the good appraisers do the job they are licensed to do.  Thanks to the HVCC I got pais $400 for a job, the property owner told me he paid $2000 for!!! Why should any company make $1400 dollars off my years of experience!!!!
