If you read my past post on the subject of marriage - Will it close or won't it...we'll know in 100 Days! - You will understand how excited I am to be "closing escrow" with my fiancee in 2 weeks.
The engagement process, I have discovered, is even more like buying a home than I had previously thought. So, to finish off the analogy, here is the revised version:
BROWSING: First off you are browsing for your mate. Many people go out and actively seek out those that are of interest to them. Some use the internet, which is great because you can look at the merchandise without having to make any decisions or get involved yet. You will probably be interested in several prospects(hopefully not at the same time), but you will eventually decide on the one that makes you most comfortable, fits your needs, that will help keep you stable and will increse in value. Basically, the one that you can see yourself living with without buyers regret. =o)
TOURING: Touring, seeing what they offer to enhance your life. Are they a good fit? Do they like the same things? Are they built on a sturdy foundation? What has happened in the past to make them less stable? Is what you see what you get? This can take a while before you know that you want to submit an offer.
DECISION: The decision to make the offer was the hardest part for me. With all the planning, searching, spending and conferring with her family, I was worn out. But I wouldn't change any of it because it led to the most rewarding part to date.
OFFER: The offer was excellent! I put the offer in a pretty package, waited until the right time to present it, and when I did I knew it was a good offer. It was big and sparkly and princess cut with other little diamond things, DEFINITELY a full price offer!! I proposed underneath the Christmas Tree in Union Square, San Francisco. It was the most excellent thing I have done in my life, and the fact that she said "yes" was the icing for sure!
INSPECTIONS: Nope, this is an "AS-IS" sale. She'll be wearing a white dress for the right reasons on closing day.
CLOSING: Today marks 15 DAYS until my Christie and I "close escrow" on July 7th (7/7/07). We are busy planning our move, our big day, and our new life together. We have bought and arranged the furniture, gone to target and registered for the knick-knacks, fought over which room would be the bedroom, talked cable vs. satellite. Now we are just waiting to close the deal and move-in to our first home together. I hope those of you that have committed to marriage are blessed each day by each other and those who have yet to make the decision will find peace and will enjoy the search until you find that perfect one for you.
Thanks to all who who have commented and sent messages my way. I've shared them with Christie and she sends her thanks as well.

Best wishes,
Agent Adam - C21
